Cervantes' Family Story
Originally from Jalisco, Mexico, Carmen Cervantes moved to Saint Paul, Minnesota in 1950. Married to Elidio Cervantes, together they had a large and beautiful family. Unfortunately, her beloved husband passed away early leaving Carmen to care for seven small children ages 1-9. Being an industrious women, Carmen did a variety of jobs to provide for her young family including taking in laundry, crocheting, baking and selling fresh Mexican bread, and her specialty cooking chili sauces for salsa and mole.
As her children grew older, Carmen taught her children how to cook her famous sauces which are now very high in demand in the neighborhood. As time passed, the recipe remained the same as well as family secret.
Today, her son, Juan Cervantes and his family is making Mama C’s Salsa available to the public using the highest quality ingredients possible.
“My mother loved to cook and was very proud of her recipes. We are honoring her memory and sharing our family legacy with other families,” says Juan Cervantes.
